1-Year Diaversary

Today we celebrate Evelynne's 1-year "Diaversary".

We have stayed mostly quiet about this over the last year. During the first few months, I think we were all just trying to process the changes. I did what I tend to do best, and I tucked my head down and dived deeply into understanding every aspect of this disease by reading and listening to everything I could get my hands on. In fact, I am looking forward to being a guest on Friday on a Podcast that's been a massive resource for me. We have now processed, stabilized, and found a healthy rhythm to this new journey. She now has the healthiest a1c of anyone in our family.

Let me brag about this kiddo for a minute. When she was first diagnosed she was required to prick her finger or give herself a shot around 15-20x per day. On day three of her diagnosis, she took over this responsibility, and with tears in her eyes, she did it time after time after time. Like time-lapse, I feel like I have watched my baby become a young woman as she sets goals and works toward them. After a few months of required torture disguised as step therapy, insurance finally approved a pump and CGM. This means attaching a new device and inserting a cannula every 2-3 days rather than multiple times a day. This kid has learned to count carbs, stop a protein rise, catch a drop, bump and nudge blood sugars, temp basal, wait and wait and wait, and to bolus for anything she wants to eat. She's visited the nurse's office at school exactly zero times this year because she's learned how to manage her t1d better than anyone else. At the same time, she definitely still knows how to have fun. Her sense of humor brings light and joy to our family every single day. She is a rockstar, and we couldn't be happier to be part of her team.

As a way to give back and commemorate this 1-year anniversary, I will be selling landscape prints during the month of December 2022 and donating 100% of the profits to Touched By Type 1. This is a great organization with the mission to inspire those with t1d to thrive. I have priced all the prints at a point that I feel is attainable for those who would like to order. https://jmgantphotography.passgallery.com/-landscapes
